TECHNICAL GUIDE / CONDUCTOR CONSTRUCTION

3, 7 and 19 strands — define the full CCS conductor

Updated 4 October 2026 · General Clad technical resources

Strand count is one construction parameter. It does not, by itself, define conductor area, conductivity, current capacity or strength. Compare the complete construction under the same duty and test conditions.

Specify more than the count

Construction fieldInformation to provide
Wire and strand countNumber of wires and individual diameter
GeometryActual cross-section, finished diameter and lay

ElectricalMaximum resistance and stated temperature
MechanicalRequired load, elongation and test basis

Make a defined comparison

For conductors made from the same material, changing both wire diameter and strand count changes the geometry. Count alone cannot identify which conductor has lower resistance or greater current capacity.

Compare actual dimensions, measured resistance and complete mechanical behavior. Installation, heating, fault duty and connections need their own acceptance criteria.

Connect the drawing to the test record

  • Provide the conductor drawing or construction reference
  • Agree on sample and finished-conductor test requirements
  • Specify connectors, environment and installation duty
  • Confirm packaging, traceability and current supply terms

Take the next step with a defined requirement.

Share the application, drawing, electrical and mechanical targets, and required documentation.
