APPLICATION REVIEW / COAXIAL & CATV CABLE
CCS center conductors for coaxial cable
Specify the CCS center conductor as part of the complete coaxial cable. Define geometry, operating conditions and the cable performance you need to verify.
01 / DEFINE THE TASK
A specification
for the complete system.
A conductivity class alone does not establish attenuation, impedance, return loss or suitability for every frequency range. Where the cable also carries DC power, state that requirement separately.
| Requirement | Information to provide | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Conductor geometry | Finished diameter, tolerance, roundness and surface requirements | The center conductor must be evaluated within the specified cable geometry. |
| Electrical requirements | Conductivity, maximum DC resistance and any DC supply duty | Signal requirements and DC powering requirements need separate acceptance criteria. |
| Cable qualification | Operating frequency range, attenuation, impedance and return-loss limits | Approval depends on the complete cable, not only a wire designation. |
| Processing and termination | Drawing or extrusion process, tension, joining and terminal design | Review surface, material condition and termination compatibility for production. |
02 / REQUIREMENT TO ACCEPTANCE
Plan the qualification.
- 01
Align the requirement
Agree on the center-conductor specification and the intended cable construction.
- 02
Evaluate trial material
Evaluate trial wire through the actual processing and termination sequence.
- 03
Confirm acceptance
Validate the finished cable against its specified electrical and mechanical requirements.
The tests and acceptance criteria follow the applicable project requirements. This guide is a starting point for review, not an approval of a particular installation.
03 / PRODUCT AND EVIDENCE
Keep the records
linked to the conductor.
Request current product data and relevant test records for the grade, dimensions and construction under review.
