APPLICATION REVIEW / TELEPHONE AND DROP CABLES
Telephone cable conductors — specify the function and duty
Start with the actual cable drawing and conductor function. A CCS designation alone does not define a telephone or drop cable.
01 / DEFINE THE TASK
A specification
for the complete system.
Review current, resistance, support loads and termination requirements for the specific design. There is no universal material substitution for every telephone cable.
| Requirement | Information to provide | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Function | Cable drawing and conductor/support role | Defines which properties the wire must provide. |
| Electrical | Resistance, DC duty and applicable signal requirements | Checks the actual circuit requirement. |
| Mechanical and process | Loads, condition, jacket/process and handling | Matches the wire to production and installation. |
| Connections | Termination method and customer cable tests | Makes the complete cable the qualification target. |
02 / REQUIREMENT TO ACCEPTANCE
Plan the qualification.
- 01
Align the requirement
Define the cable role and acceptance specification.
- 02
Evaluate trial material
Evaluate sample wire and the proposed processing/joining arrangement.
- 03
Confirm acceptance
Validate the finished cable and relevant connections.
The tests and acceptance criteria follow the applicable project requirements. This guide is a starting point for review, not an approval of a particular installation.
03 / PRODUCT AND EVIDENCE
Keep the records
linked to the conductor.
Request current product data and relevant test records for the grade, dimensions and construction under review.
