Copper-clad and aluminum-clad steel strands: compare explicitly

Original publication: · Reviewed:

Both constructions may have a steel core, but their outer metals and complete specifications differ. Compare actual strand geometry, resistance, mechanical duty and connection compatibility; do not substitute one from the core description alone.

Specify more than the count

Make a defined comparison

For conductors made from the same material, changing both wire diameter and strand count changes the geometry. Count alone cannot identify which conductor has lower resistance or greater current capacity.

Compare actual dimensions, measured resistance and complete mechanical behavior. Installation, heating, fault duty and connections need their own acceptance criteria.
