40H copper-clad aluminum: historical development notice

Original publication: · Reviewed:

The historical notice introduced the 40H designation. Treat that designation as a product reference, and ask for the current core material, copper-fraction basis, dimensions and test data before comparing it with another CCA grade.

Carry the designation into the specification

General Clad's historical catalogue contains CCA 10A, 15A, 40A and flat-wire entries. Use a legacy designation as a starting reference, then request the current product specification and responsible material team.

State whether copper fraction is measured by volume or mass. A catalogue number, copper percentage and %IACS conductivity are not interchangeable fields.

Use the group material expertise

General Clad's manufacturing focus is CCS. Raytron provides the wider CCA/CCAA material entry point for capability and project review.

Preserving this historical General Clad entry does not claim that all CCA products are manufactured by the General Clad brand. Discuss availability, material responsibility, processing and terminations for the chosen construction.
