Hard CCS applications: define strength and forming limits

Original publication: · Reviewed:

A hard-drawn condition may serve a different mechanical duty from an annealed wire. Compare the actual strength and elongation requirements, handling and joining process; do not infer suitability from the word hard.

Treat condition as a separate field

A procurement description should identify grade, diameter, material condition and required tensile strength and elongation. Request data for that combination rather than assuming the same values at every diameter.

Do not infer a thicker copper layer from an annealed designation. Copper geometry and interface requirements need their own specification and inspection basis.

Compare what the project measures
